The 3 Days Trip to Italy and Vatican City in February 2018

Image
Being a student, it is difficult to travel during the ongoing semester and have to manage it  during my vacation. This is the reason why most of my travels happen during the time of  vacation. Traveling to most European destinations are comparatively cheaper during winter. You can check my previous articles to get some insight  Europe Travel | 5  Countries, 9 Cities and 20 days | Budget and Trip Plan and my upcoming Europe travel of 2018 . I had to exclude my tour to Italy and Vatican City from my Europe travel part two due to  time constraint owing to my college work. Making trips to new places is one of the exciting  activity of leisure for me as I always carried a dream to travel to Italy from my childhood. Now let us get into the details of my travel expenses for this trip: My allocated budget for the 3 days trip is €142 (142 Euros).  I have broken down this amount in detail as specified below. Lisbon to Pisa by 3 hours long f...

Visiting Sintra | Portugal

Image
Follow on  Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/travelwithgops/ With its rippling mountains, dewy forests thick with ferns and lichen, exotic gardens and glittering palaces, Sintra is like a page torn from a fairy tale. Its Unesco World Heritage–listed centre, Sintra-Vila, is dotted with pastel-hued manors folded into luxuriant hills that roll down to the blue Atlantic. Celts worshipped their moon god here, the Moors built a precipitous castle, and 18th-century Portuguese royals swanned around its dreamy gardens. Even Lord Byron waxed lyrical about Sintra’s charms: ‘Lo! Cintra’s glorious Eden intervenes, in a variegated maze of mount and glen’, which inspired his epic poem Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage. Travel Guide : It’s the must-do day trip and, if time’s not an issue, has more than enough allure to seize you for days. Sintra has become quite popular, and it's hard to escape the tourist masses (especially in summer). Go early in the day midweek to escape the w...

Viewpoint in Lisbon

Miradouro da Penha de França In this post I will be describing two of the view points in Lisbon. Who doesn't want the view of beautiful city. Miradouro do Penha de França Miradouro do Monte Agudo This viewpoint Miradouro do Penha de França, in Lisbon is probably least known even for locals as I rarely have met more than five people at given time. This view point is one where I have visited most in Lisbon as it was near from place I use to stay and also because of silence. Miradouro do Monte Agudo also gives you beautiful view of the city and it is just 5 minutes walk from Miradouro do Penha de França. In this viewpoint you have a place to sit, a small shop for beer or wine and great view. Here are some sunset images taken from these viewpoints . Torre de Belém Torre de Belém is one of significant monument in Lisbon. It is located near the mouth of Tagus river and symbolise the country's age of discovery during 16th century.  It was sunny and of course a hot day in Lisbon. I still remember the weekend, when I visited the site. The breeze from the river changed everything and made me feel like to walk there all day. It was refreshing, lots of people and with the awesome view. To visit this beautiful structure all you need is to catch Metro and then take Train even though you have other alternatives to go there. Metro in Lisbon is 1.45 Euros per ride and Train to Belem is 1.30 Euros per ride, if you have rechargeable card else you need to pay 50 cents for one card. Grab the metro and go till one of the end terminal of Green (Verde) line. The name of terminal is known as Cais do Sodré  and after you exit metro follow the signs towards Train. The trains usually go every 20mins towards Cascais. Belem station is l...

Erasmus in Lisbon, Portugal

Image
Lisbon, capital of Portugal and personally a place where I feel like my second home. Let me tell you story of me being in this lovely place and it all starts with Erasmus Scholarship.  While selecting scholarship my main aim was to watch FC Barcelona play and Instituto Superior Tecnico, University of Lisbon was one of the college offering the Master's degree I was intending to study. For me, this was a perfect moment to study what I wanted and also watch my dream team play as it falls in Schengen region and Spain is just next door. Apart from my initial thoughts to come to Portugal, this country has made me feel at home. I had good company here with few friends from Bhutan and rest I met here. This maybe because of freedom which I felt or could be due to a new place. I found an answer while I went to travel around other places that it was Lisbon that gave me the feeling of joy. As soon as the aeroplane touched the ground and heart was filled with the joy of...
